Why this matters

Airline baggage rules are easy to get wrong because similar-looking fares can include very different things. Farlounge now keeps this checker deliberately narrower: only airlines whose current cabin-bag rules have been checked against an official airline source are listed here.

What changed in 2026?

The most important recent example is Ryanair. Its free personal-bag allowance is now 40 × 30 × 20 cm. Older travel pages and saved packing notes may still show the previous dimensions, so checking the live airline rule matters even when you have flown the carrier before.

Personal item vs cabin bag

A personal item is the smaller bag designed to fit under the seat in front of you. An overhead cabin bag is larger and may be included, chargeable or linked to a fare bundle. Low-cost carriers are particularly likely to separate these two allowances.

Why checked-luggage prices are not presented as fixed fees

Many airlines vary bag prices by route, departure date, booking channel and when the bag is added. A static “from £x” figure can become misleading quickly, so Farlounge shows the structural allowance and sends you to the airline for the live price where the fee is dynamic.

Check the operating airline, especially on codeshare flights.
Measure bags including wheels, handles and external pockets.
Weigh the bag after final packing rather than relying on the luggage manufacturer's stated capacity.
Check whether your fare, membership or package changes the standard allowance.
