Plain-English summary
Most free Farlounge tools can be used without an account. Paid Trip Briefs, account access and Team workspaces require us to store enough information to provide the service securely. We do not sell personal data or independently build cross-site advertising profiles. We minimise the personal data we retain and use it only for providing, securing and improving Farlounge, processing purchases and communicating about the service.
Who we are
Farlounge and this website
“Farlounge”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the website at farlounge.com. For all data-protection enquiries, email hello@farlounge.com.
02 / Collection
What we collect directly
The information Farlounge processes depends on which parts of the service you use. It can include:
- Free-tool preferencesTheme preference and some tool state, such as packing-list checks, can be stored in your browser's local storage so those tools remember your choices on that device.
- Account and sign-in informationIf you use an account, Trip Pack, Year Pass or Team workspace, we process your email address to send secure magic links and service emails. Durable account and workspace identity records use a one-way hash of the normalised email address wherever the plain address is not required.
- Trip Brief detailsSaved and paid Trip Briefs are stored on our service so they can be reopened, emailed, printed and made available through the account or Team workspace that is entitled to them. This can include the journey details you enter, generated destination guidance and checklist state.
- Team workspace informationFor Team, we process the workspace name, assigned traveller names, membership and role, trip assignments and each traveller's checklist progress. We keep a hashed email for identity and may retain an encrypted copy of a member's email address where it is needed to deliver their personal Trip Brief or other transactional Team email. Team administrators can see traveller readiness and shared trip information, but Farlounge does not ask Team users to store passport numbers, medical records or similar sensitive travel documents.
- Purchase and subscription recordsWe store the identifiers and status needed to recognise a paid Trip Brief, Trip Pack, Year Pass or Team subscription. Card and bank details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Farlounge.
- Service and security logsOur hosting and infrastructure providers record standard technical information such as IP address, user agent, request path and timestamps for delivery, diagnostics, security and abuse prevention.
You can continue to use most free tools and content without giving Farlounge your name or email address.
03 / Purpose
Why we use this information
We process personal data where it is necessary to provide a service you requested or purchased, to operate and secure Farlounge, to meet legal and accounting obligations, or where we have a legitimate interest in improving and protecting the service without overriding your rights. Where consent is required for optional analytics or advertising cookies, we rely on that consent and you can withdraw it.
We keep account, Trip Brief, Team and transaction-related records only for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve support or payment issues, maintain security and meet applicable legal obligations. You can ask us to delete personal data where the law gives you that right.
04 / Providers
Third-party services
Stripe
Stripe processes checkout, payment and subscription information. Farlounge receives payment and subscription identifiers, status and customer information needed to provide paid access, but does not receive or store your full card details.
Email delivery
We use an email delivery provider to send magic links, purchase confirmations, Team invitations and Trip Brief emails. The recipient address and message content are processed for delivery.
Hosting and data storage
Vercel hosts and delivers the application and processes standard request and edge-network data. Our application data store is used for saved briefs, account entitlements and Team workspace data. Providers process information on our behalf subject to their own security and privacy terms.
Google Analytics and advertising
Where enabled and permitted by your cookie choices, Google Analytics helps us understand which pages and tools are useful. Google advertising services may also process information where advertising is enabled. You can control optional cookie-based processing through the consent controls and your browser or Google settings.
Travel data providers
Some tools call external travel-data services, such as weather or exchange-rate providers. They receive the request needed to return the result, for example a location or currency pair, but we do not intentionally send your Farlounge account identity with those lookups.
06 / Your control
Your rights under GDPR and UK GDPR
If you are in the UK, European Economic Area, Switzerland or another jurisdiction granting data-protection rights, you may:
- Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete data we hold about you.
- Object to processing or ask us to restrict it.
- Request portability where the right applies.
- Withdraw consent for optional cookie-based processing at any time.
- Complain to your local supervisory authority or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
To exercise a right, email hello@farlounge.com from the address associated with your account or enquiry. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing or changing account data.
07 / Children
Children's privacy
Farlounge is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 in some jurisdictions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, email us and we will review and remove it where appropriate.
08 / Updates
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices or third-party services. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate. The date at the top reflects the latest revision.
