Editorial principles

01

Independent and useful

Farlounge is not a booking engine, travel agency or claims company. Editorial decisions are based on what helps a traveller understand and act, not on whether a provider benefits.

02

Primary sources first

Travel rules, passenger rights, health guidance and provider terms are checked against official authorities and first-party documentation wherever possible.

03

Clear research labels

Desk research, modelled comparisons and direct experience are described accurately. Farlounge does not claim first-hand testing or travel experience unless it genuinely took place and can be supported.

04

Human review

Articles and guides are reviewed for clarity, accuracy, usefulness and tone before publication. Keith Blues provides editorial oversight for Farlounge.

Research and verification

Each article starts with the question a traveller needs answered. Research prioritises government departments, regulators, public health bodies, airlines, airports and other original providers. Reputable secondary sources may be used for context, but they do not replace the primary source for a rule, fee or entitlement.

High-impact guidance covering border entry, visas, passenger rights, insurance, money or health includes visible source links. Readers should still confirm critical details before travel because rules, prices and eligibility can change without notice.

Dates and updates

“Published” records when an article first appeared. “Last reviewed” records a substantive editorial check. A date is not changed merely to make an article appear recent. Material changes are incorporated when new official information affects the advice.

Automation and AI

Digital tools may help organise research, compare information, prepare drafts or identify areas that need checking. They are not treated as authoritative sources. Every published article is reviewed by a person, and factual claims are checked against the sources described above.

Commercial independence

Advertising, sponsorships and affiliate relationships do not determine Farlounge's conclusions. Any paid relationship that could influence a reader's decision will be disclosed clearly near the relevant content.

Corrections

If you spot an error, outdated rule or unclear claim, email hello@farlounge.com with the article URL and the supporting source. Confirmed errors will be corrected promptly and the review date updated where the change is material.
